| The Hague Convention provides protections for
children, birthparents and prospective adoptive parents under
internationally agreed upon rules and and procedures. Under its
framework, member countries work together to help ensure that children
are provided with permanent, loving homes and that adoptions take place
in the best interest of the child.
IAN
fully supports the Hague Convention and is Hague accredited. Its
governance over adoptions between the U.S and other participating
countries began officially on April 1, 2008. However, IAN has been
working for many years toward the values defined in the Hague
Convention.
