THE
HAGUE CONVENTION ON INTERCOUNTRY ADOPTION:
Ethiopia is not a party to the
Hague Convention on Protection of Children and
Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption
(the Convention). Therefore the entering into force
of the Convention for the United States on April 1, 2008, will
not change intercountry adoption processing for
Ethiopia.
PLEASE NOTE: There are several U.S.-based
adoption agencies authorized by the Government of Ethiopia to
provide adoption services, and several others
pending accreditation.
Ethiopia requires post placement
reports on Ethiopian orphans at 3 months, 6 months,
and one year after the adoption. Yearly reports
until the child turns 18 are also required. Please
review the Documentary Requirements below for more
information.
