On a
beautiful summer Sunday, IAN families from all over Colorado gathered in
the park to celebrate their common bond of growing their families
through adoption. This annual event is certainly a highlight of the
year for IAN staff as we love to see the families grow and flourish.
This year we had nearly 80 families, with
children adopted from Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Ethiopia and Guatemala.
Some of these families completed their adoptions several years ago, some
brought home their children only a few weeks ago, and some are still
waiting for or working towards their children. It was an amazing sight
to see children making new friends, and children who knew each other in
their home countries getting reacquainted. Families celebrated
milestones together and offered support for those not quite as far along
in the process.
IAN staff (and their families!) cooked
hamburgers and hotdogs with all the side dishes and kept an endless
supply of cotton candy ready. We had face painting, balloons, a piata
and the wildly popular bounce house for the kids. It was a beautiful
Colorado day celebrating families!
