Ethiopia: Adoption Process

	Sign up with Agency: Online Application Print/Mail Application
	Begin homestudy and dossier.
	Complete homestudy.
	File I-600A with USCIS: I-600A Form on USCIS
	Complete dossier.
	Dossier sent to IAN for authentication and multi-step process in Ethiopia.
	Parents may accept referral.
	IAN submits the parents dossier to the Adoption Committee for review and approval to adopt.
	Parents and child's dossiers are submitted to the ministry.
	Contract of Adoption is signed, adoption process begins as well as orphan notice of adoption posted in papers.
	Court occurs, adoption approved and adoption decree issued.
	Child's new passport, birth certificate and exit visa issued.
	Embassy provides immigrant visa for child to come to US.
	Family travels to receive child, or 1-3 months later child is escorted to US.
