Children Available |
|
Age:
Children are available at
four years to age 15, but families should be open to older. Mexico is not a
program for those only interested in an infant. |
|
Gender:
Both
boys and girls are available for adoption. Sibling groups are also
available. |
|
Health:
Children are generally
healthy, but may have parasites and other treatable conditions caused due to
living conditions. Children receive regular check-ups and vaccinations for
MMR, Hepatitis B and Polio. Special needs children are available. |
|
Adoptive Parents Requirements |
|
Marriage:
Single heterosexual men and women and married couples may apply. If previous
history of divorce you must be married for three years or if no previous
history of divorce, than married a minimum of two years. One parent
must be a US citizen.
|
|
Age: Prospective
parents
between the ages of 25 and 50 may adopt, however if married only one parent
must meet the age requirements. The prospective parents must be 17
years older than the adoptive child. |
|
Children: There is no
restriction on the number of children already in the family home. |
|
Travel:
There are two
separate trips for this program. The first occurs about one month after
being matched with a child. This is a 3-5 week trip with increasing visits
with the child. If the adoptive parents are married, one spouse may leave
after ten days. The second trip occurs after the court proceedings (3-4
months) and is a ten-day trip to pick up the child. |
|
Time Frame:
The family
typically receives referral 1-4 months after submission of the dossier. The
referral is made by the DIF.
Information provided includes photos, lab results, and brief medical/social
history. Please note that social history is scarce and frequently inaccurate
due to many factors. |
